When you set goals, you think realistically. You analyze your current situation and plan out steps on how to reach your goals. Goals are oriented toward a future outcome.
Goals are concrete. When I set my goals I feel focused and in control. At least I have the illusion that I’m in control because sometimes it doesn’t last very long? I’m sure you can
relate when I say it’s hard to stay on track because there are so many distractions. Then, when things don’t pan out as planned you’re inner critic will probably enter the picture and
have a heyday. Not a recipe for a lot of ease and freedom.
Here’s the key to reaching your goals: Set your Intentions!
Intentions are different. They are focused on how you’re “being” in the present moment. Creating intentions does not mean you abandon your goals. Goals are the concrete results of your intentions. An intention is not concrete, it’s energetic – it moves you to take the actions to reach your goals.
Instead of wishing, hoping and even trying to reach your goals setting intentions means first of all that you align your actions with what matters most to you. When you are clear and stay conscious of what’s most important to you, your WHY, amazing things can happen. You’ll be able to keep things sane, doable and yes, even have a sense of humor when life’s unpredictabilities, distractions and things you think you have control over but don’t, happen. Setting your intentions shows your commitment, a promise to yourself, rather than just a wish, to reach your goals.
Keep the following in mind when setting intentions:
- Be clear on what matters most to you and your values. It’s from that place that you make and align your decisions.
- Let go of control which is about trusting and creating space in your life where new and exciting things can happen.
- Intention comes from the heart. It does not come from your reasonable head but from your aliveness.
- When you are in touch with and acting from your intentions, you become more effective in reaching your goals than when you act from wants and insecurities.
Intention is the key to success in reaching your goals and what you want to create in your life. When you remember to consciously set intentions coupled to your goals you’ll notice ease and freedom as well as an increase in productivity and enjoyment in working towards what you want in your life and business.
I’d love to hear your comments and what your experience has been when you’ve set your intentions.
Have a stress free Holiday filled with love, joy and laughter.
